Before the catastrophic explosion, a day in the life of The Morris Brothers was a lot like eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, except without the jelly…………..B-O-R-I-N-G! Basically, they were two scientific nerd brothers with the same last name– Homer & Rupert Morris to be exact. In school they were best known for their amazing science experiments that almost worked but always had that one final piece of the puzzle missing. They were also constantly picked on by the notorious playground bully – Fightin’ Festus. Take their glasses, for example. They thought , “Wouldn’t it be cool if the black horn rim glasses that we wear every day could also be used as top secret military night vision glasses?!”(Their rationale was that people could also read at night and not need light, saving electricity everywhere.) The Morris Brothers were just full of ideas, even for the pens that they wear in their pocket protectors. They had been trying for years to make the perfect invisible ink pen so they could write secret notes to each other in class without the teacher catching them. As much as they tried, they always failed at their experiments– so close, yet, so far away.
Visualize the scene: The walls of their laboratory are lined with hundreds of books. Every week the two of them would read these books on karate, football, basketball, geography, science, history, racecar driving and more; all in hopes of finally overcoming their shyness and becoming more confident nerds. When it comes to music, Rupert loves to listen to rock n’ roll; he plays Guitar Hero and Rock Band every day on a giant 150” HD flat panel, except he uses his real guitar that’s plugged into the controller. Homer plays drum, and sometimes guitar, to each song. As much as they dream of being on a live concert stage one day, they were way too shy to actually leave the cozy confines of their underground treehouse laboratory. So this was their life– experiments, Guitar Hero and Rock Band every day, e-v-e-r-y single day……until that fateful afternoon that changed EVERYTHING forever.
Homer and Rupert were in their laboratory working on a new energy drink that would not only give them energy, but also boost their confidence sky high. They had scoured the world collecting all of the ingredients they would need to finally make the perfect potion. And just as Homer was adding the final ingredient– the sweat from every hall of fame football player still alive– the phone rang causing him to make the most serious mistake of his life. The lab beaker boiled over, causing the chemicals to mix much faster than normal. The, there was a huge explosion in the lab that caused every single page from every book to melt into a pool of electrified knowledge. It knocked The Morris Brothers off their feet and into glowing pool. As Homer and Rupert lay unconscious in the pool for hours all of the written words were absorbed by their bodies and into their hearts, minds and souls. When they woke up, they were two changed nerds. They had confidence and that wonderful, empowering feeling that they could take on new challenges and new goals. They weren’t afraid or too shy to try. As a result, they had become two Social Superheroes on a mission to save and entertain the entire world. They are definitely two N.E.R.D.s, but they want the entire world to know it now stands for……………. Never Ending Radical Dudes.
